...... Created from images of the indigenous populations of Central and South America, my intent is to document the transitory moments of the last native survivors of the Spanish conquest. History repeats itself as a new generation of characters with false pretensions threaten to deceive, marginalize, and obliterate surviving ancient cultures with roots in the earth, the water, the fire, the moon, the air, the sun. The global transformation taking place today contains irreversible consequences which go unnoticed, such as an uncertain future for these endangered populations. In documenting their presence, I acknowledge the significance of the traditions and beliefs which have sustained them for thousands of years. Their wisdom demonstrates how to build rich relationships with the natural environment and create lasting peace with one another. Rather than allowing history to be rewritten for future generations, it is important that I do my part in assuring their rightful place in history.
