In giving new life to this material, the completed work provides a social commentary about man's internal connection to nature, as well as society's responsibility to the environment. Each piece contains spontaneous natural variations in color, texture, and grain which enhance the visual and symbolic impact of the work.

.........The symbol of the fish is abundant in both mythological and biblical stories, and is a recurring theme in my work. It signifies the legends of the primitive people of many cultures who believe that the creation story originated in the water. The monolithic design of the totem is another universal symbol, shrouded with mystery. To many cultures the totem represents a significant link between generations, becoming the visual representation of the historical events and spiritual beliefs of its people. The recycled wood has been collected from several countries around the world, symbolizing transculturalization and rebirth.
